University of the Visual and Performing Arts Aptitude Test Applications University Admissions – Academic Year 2022/2023 Bachelor of Visual Arts / Bachelor of Performing Arts (Music / Dance / Drama and Theatre) Honorary Degree Courses (Based on G.C.E. A / L – 2022)

The University of the Visual and Performing Arts is now accepting applications, starting from September 18, 2023, for the aptitude test for admission to the following degree programs for the academic year 2022/2023. These programs include Bachelor of Visual Arts and Bachelor of Performing Arts (Music / Dance / Drama and Theatre). Candidates should meet the minimum requirements specified below, based on their performance in the G.C.E. A/L Examination held in 2022. Eligibility for university admission must have been confirmed by the Commissioner General of Examination.

Minimum Requirements for University Entrance: (i) Candidates should meet the minimum university admission requirements outlined in the Student Handbook: "Admission to Undergraduate Courses of the Universities in Sri Lanka, Academic Year 2022/2023 (Based on the G.C.E. A/L - 2022)," issued by the University Grants Commission. Additionally, they must have obtained at least a Credit Pass (C) in the G.C.E. A/L Examination in 2022 in the subject they intend to pursue, namely, Art and Sculpture, Music, Dance, Drama and Theatre, and passed all three subjects attempted.

(ii) Furthermore, candidates who meet the above requirements must successfully complete the aptitude test conducted by the University to secure admission to the University of the Visual and Performing Arts.

Application Deadline: October 6, 2023

Payment Method: Applicants planning to take the aptitude test should submit a fee of Rs. 2,000/- per course. Payments should be made in favor of the University of the Visual and Performing Arts at any branch of the Bank of Ceylon, credited to account number 84072227 at the Independent Square Branch of the Bank of Ceylon, Colombo 07. Applicants must mention the system-generated admission number received when completing the online application form when making the payment. Payments through Cash Deposit Machines (CDM) will not be accepted.

Applicants who have taken two aesthetic subjects in the G.C.E. A/L Examination - 2022 and are applying for both subjects in the aptitude test should submit a single application form, selecting both subjects. Two separate payments should be made, referencing the two admission numbers generated by the system for each course.

Original copies of the following documents must be retained by the applicant for future submission to the University if requested: (i) bank payment receipt for the credited payment as mentioned above, (ii) National Identity Card, (iii) a recent passport-size photograph of the applicant taken within the past six months, (iv) the G.C.E. A/L - 2022 result sheet.

Important Notes: 04. Incomplete or applications with false information will be rejected. In such cases, the payment made by the applicant will not be refunded.

  1. All applicants applying for the aptitude test for admission to the University of the Visual and Performing Arts for the academic year 2022/2023 must also separately apply for university admission to the University Grants Commission.
  2. The test dates will be communicated solely through SMS to the applicant's mobile phone number and via email; notifications will not be sent through regular mail. The aptitude test will be conducted exclusively in Sinhala.
