Diploma in Tourism Operations

The one year Diploma in Tourism Operations Programme has been designed to introduce the multi disciplinary nature of the tourism industry and the links it has with the various sub sectors. The components of the industry are discussed during the first semester using 4 core courses which is compulsory to all students. Thereafter the students have the option of selecting their special stream either in Hotel Operations or Travel Operations during the second semester and covering 4 courses. A practical component is also included and altogether the programme is worth 30 credits.

The Diploma will benefit the school leavers, employment seekers and those already employed in the Tourism, Travel and Hotel Industry.



3 passes in any stream at the GCE (A/l) Examination, Sri Lanka,


 or, 


6 passes at the GCE (O/L) Examination, Sri Lanka


and


5 years of certified work experience in the relevant field,


 or, 


06 passes at the GCE (O/L)Examination, Sri Lanka


 and 

successfully completed the Short Course in Tourism and Hotel Operations of the Open University of Sri Lanka, with 3 years of certified work experience in the relevant field, 


or,


Successful completion of any SLQF Level 2 programme with minimum 30  credits offered by a Higher Educational Institution acceptable by the Senate, or, Successful completion of National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 4 in Tourism and Hospitality field,


 or. an equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the Senate.
