Master of Energy Management (MEM) - OUSL 2024

In light of the pressing global challenges surrounding sustainable power generation and consumption, especially amid dwindling fossil fuel reserves and widespread environmental concerns, the need for a Master of Energy Management (MEM) program has never been more critical. With a notable surge in the demand for electricity across domestic, commercial, and industrial sectors, Sri Lanka finds itself compelled to address the imperative of sustainable energy generation and utilization to mitigate adverse impacts.

The global demand for qualified personnel in the role of Energy Managers and Energy Auditors has prompted various countries to address energy-related issues within organizations. Recognizing the significance of this sector and aligning with international trends, Sri Lanka officially recognized Energy Auditing as a profession through a Gazette notification (No. 1715/12 July 20, 2011) under the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority (SLSEA) Act No. 35 of 2007. The Gazette regulations outline clear career development paths for Energy Managers and Energy Auditors, with SLSEA providing national accreditation based on specific training and experience in energy management and auditing.
